Google to Go Public
Why this is noteworthy to me - "
Google is not a conventional company. We do not intend to become one," co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin wrote in an open letter included in the IPO filing. I guess we'll have to wait and see. This should be interesting. I love Google's culture. I love their approach to running a company. But now they will be required to keep wall street happy.
I also found this interesting -
Through February, Google held a 35 percent share of the search engine market, with Yahoo at 30 percent and Microsoft's MSN at 15 percent, according to comScore Networks, a research firm. This is a bit of a surprise. I thought Google's percentage was much higher.

Another Gmail Post
I've got a
Gmail account! Google is allowing members of Blogger to test it out. And so far it looks awesome! The best feature so far is the way they thread reply's together in one email. Normally, when you have 4 reply's from someone you have 4 separate emails. With Gmail all of the reply's are grouped together in one email. Pretty slick!

Subservient Chicken
Thanks
Mike for send me the link to the
Subservient Chicken. It has to be one of the oddest things I've seen on the net in a long time.
If you haven't seen this site you should check it out. When you get to the site you'll see a text box. Just type in whatever you want the chicken to do. Here's a few suggestions -
jump, fly, break dance, sit, lay down, spin, blow a kiss, go to sleep, flip.

Privacy Issues with Google's Gmail
Google's Gmail Already Under Fire - The gigabyte storage capacity and long memory of Google's planned Web-based e-mail service are making it a big target for privacy campaigners. Google says it will scan the text of all incoming e-mail in order to place appropriate advertisements. This is a bad idea, according to the privacy campaigners, because "The scanning of confidential email violates the implicit trust of an email service provider."

Gmail
Gmail is Google's answer to web based email.
"
Gmail is an experiment in a new kind of webmail, built on the idea that you should never have to delete mail and you should always be able to find the message you want."
