Cool Gadgets

The latest copy of Business 2.0 has a few featured gadgets that caught my eye.

inMotion from Altec Lansing is a portable audio system for iPods. It's sort of like a docking station with an amplifier and speakers. Pretty slick!

Virtual Keyboard from iBiz is a laser-powered portable keyboard for PDA's.

What Business Is Starbucks Really In?

Thinking Outside the Cup - a fantastic article in the July issue of www.FastCompany.com.

Starbucks, the hear music coffeehouse - Sit back and listen to any one of our 10,000 CDs at the 70 interactive Tablet PC-based listening stations available in the store.

"We've known for a long time now that Starbucks is more than just a wonderful cup of coffee. It's the experience." - Howard Schultz

Starbucks is making a bold push into music! You can listen to over 10,000 CD's or you can create your own mixed-CD for $6.99 for the first five tracks and $1 for each additional song. You can even select a title and funky artwork on both the disc and the jacket (plus liner notes).

Starbucks plans to have 100 coffee shops across the country enabled with Hear Music CD-burning stations by next Christmas, and more than 1,000 locations up and running by the end of 2005.
